Noise near terminal patients

I am annoyed by noise in shops, parents not taking notice of their children's behaviour. We hear people everywhere, shouting down others and themselves.

But the most disturbing noise is made by visitors near ill and terminal people. Might be caused by their own fear. Even then there is no silence. And silence is the best opportunity for saying things, with eyes and hands touching and holding each other, an arm around someone, in silence: for some things in life we have no words for. In love and light, Noor.

Listen positively

This afternoon I walked through a park. I enjoyed the birds singing. Even later I realized that there were also other sounds, from traffic.

I am interested in maditation and like to focus at positive state of mind. Nice to see that the "negative" irritation disappears to the background. This is another way handle sound. Compliments for your site! Regards, Wout.

Car horn

Every morning at 7 AM a lady across the street is picked up by a female van driver who thinks it is necessary to blow the horn. She seems to forget that this sound travels in all directions and not only to the door of her passenger.
One would expect that the lady who is to be picked up will know by now that there is a car coming at 7. The sound of the engine and a look through the window would be sufficient. And when it is really necessary to warn, step out of the car and use the door bell. Or use your mobile phone to let your passenger's phone ring once. It's free!

Walkman in bus, tram or train

A familiar sound sound: the rythmical hissing of cymbals and other drums, escaping from the wrong side of the headphones.
The owner of the headphone will grow deaf eventually, but there are others in the train who - believe it or not - want to read, look outside quietly, or listen to nothing else than the sound of the train.

Early birds

Chris Arundel, who found the Site of Silence by Dr Martin v/d Ven's Radio Guide mailed:

If you have any tips for stopping the birds singing outside my bedroom window at 0430 hours I would like to hear them. I thought an armour piercing anti tank weapon might shut them up!

(Maybe it helps if you move to another part of your country, for example a little closer to an airport. The early birds you hear there are larger and easier to hit with this anti tank weapon you might have purchased already.)

Flight exercises

Ed Franssen Pieterzijl, found the Site of Silence by reading the Internet Gids (surfwijzer). He writes:

I like to walk and ride my bike in the Lauwersmeergebied (this is one of the silent zones). It can be heavenly quiet, if not for those damned F16s flying over, very low, very annoying.

I live in a small village Odiliapeel, next to airforce base Volkel. Every day (except sundays) those monsters fly across our heads, very low, with very scary loud noise. It should be forbidden by law.

Loud noise on a sunny day

Marianne, visitor of the Site of Silence wrote:

I get annoyed by all those drilling, mowing, and god-knows-whatever-more machines when I am sitting in the outside on a sunny day. And of course by radios etc. as well!

Next door alarm

A visitor of the Site of Silence, Robert Bones (Pennsylvania, US), writes:

"One of my pet peeves is that person next door who does not turn off his alarm in the morning. It begins at 7am and does not usually get turned off until close to bloody 4pm."
